So Marvel.com has this to say about the "One More Day storyline":

The most controversial storyline in Marvel history begins today, as Amazing Spider-Man #544 marks the first chapter of One More Day! As Aunt May lies in a coma, and Peter remains a fugitive from justice, the wall-crawler will face the hardest decision of his life. How far do you go to save the ones you love? What's the cost of doing the right thing?

My question is: how can the arc be the most “controversial storyline” before it has even completed? It’s like calling something an instant classic; the thing about a classic is that it does not last only an instant. Furthermore, who is Marvel to tell me what is the most controversial thing? If Aunt May slips into a coma and then Peter decides to take her off of life support, which in turn causes Mary Jane to leave him, then I’ll call that a pretty controversial storyline. Then you’re talking social and political issues, things that we deal with in our own lives. So it better be on this level or I’m calling foul.

Why can't a compnay just let a story speak for itself? After all, I think half our problems as readers come from expectations that are not met.

Today's a great Wednesday. I walked out with a great stack of books I know won't disappoint.

However, I like taking a risk every once in awhile, so I'm taking home this one.

That little propaganda blurb is almost exactly the SAME thing that Marvel has been saying about SpiderMan since the 60s and 70s. How is it any different? oh yes..Stan Lee at the end saying "Stay Tuned True Believers! You won't belive this Merry Marvel Mayhem! Excelsior! Nuff Said!"

Aunt May is sick and/or dying. Peter Parker is in great moral conflict? Tearing himself up over something that he thinks he did to someone?

Excelsior!

God how much money I wasted when Superman WAS dead.

Anyhow, methinks half our problems as humans comes from expectations that are not met.

I don't think I've said this enough:

That is the ugliest Goddamn cover in like fifteen years.
