The New Hotness

Click here for the Newsarama article.

O.k. so I am sad that Bedard is off the book and all, but look at this line-up.

Dixon you had me at, “Hello.” Well, that and Oliver Queen.

Interesting that Martian Manhunter has been replaced by Geo-Force

I'm glad Ollie will be in a team book. I also hope the lack of Nightwing in the Outsiders will finally give DC the chance it needs to kill that character off.

Ugh. I'm at a loss to know what you find so attractive about this grouping, other than Green Arrow.

(If he will be possible add the CresceNet(www.provedorcrescenet.com) in your blogroll I thankful, bye friend).

Yes, that's French they're speaking, and no, these children aren't French, they're American. They've acquired their amazing new language skills from Muzzy, the remarkable new video language program for children developed by the British Broadcasting Corporation.

...yeah, it ain't French, but show me a foreign language out of nowhere, and that's the first thing to come to mind.

Where's A.J. the Aquaman?

And Mike, Nightwing is going to be in the new Titans book, so suck on that. And he was never held prisoner by fake Amazons because he can escape from a simple cage.

I'm going to reiterate the point of where the Martian Manhunter has gone. I mean all his comic book exposure has been so far is pulling invisible aerial surveillance, getting outed as a Checkmate spy as soon as he's introduced and being kidnapped and tortured by his, admittedly very appealing, pseudo-sidekick.

At least he'll be back to normal by Final Crisis.

I was just comparing the picture to some of the older images. Geo-Force replaces Martian Manhunter and Batgirl replaces Catwoman.

Is this Chuck Dixon's re-writing Bedard's Outsiders? Or was this always the plan?

I sort of liked MM on the team. And although Geo-Force is a tip of the hat to the old line-up, I'm not sure he really fits in with the team as it stands now.

Another grouping of random characters, under the name of a team that struggled along for years without ever really creating a group identity or purpose.

Haven't we seen enough "renegade" superteams? Frankly, the whole thing is played out, guys. Dark hero teams are so damn 90s.

How about a team that's a *cover* for extralegal operations?
Or maybe a group that has a greater purpose than just being whoever (besides Batman) doesn't have his/her own title at the moment?

You may think I have little faith that this new Outsiders will really set the comics world on fire-- and you'd be right. It's same-old-same-old, and not in a good (nostalgic) way... more like "Um, didn't they try this with the last four incarnations of Outsiders?"

Whoa- forgot to take my cynicism suppressants today...

I think I might've said this already, but watching Dixon struggle with portraying the most socially liberal hero in comics and a positive lesbian relationship might just be worth the $2.99.

MIGHT, let me emphasize.

So we've got founders Batman, Metamorpho, Geo-Force, and Katana, founder Black Lightning's legacy... looks very much like the Outsiders going back to their roots, excepting only Halo. Hopefully this means Geo-Force is being pulled out of the JLA and sent back down to the minors where he belongs.

If that's Cassandra in the Batgirl suit, she seems like she'll work with this bunch. Green Arrow's the one I wonder about; I can't see him condoning doing things in the shadowy covert way that he wouldn't do in the open. But, then again, maybe he's here to be the conscience of the team.
